Huber's Butchery is one of Singapore's best-known family-run butchers, and its Dempsey Road shop has a casual bistro attached. The appeal is simple: the meat comes straight from the counter next door, so the steaks reflect what the butchers stock rather than a separate restaurant supply chain.
Eatbook lists the 250g Argentinian grass-fed sirloin at S$35++, which is modest for Dempsey. The Angus grain-fed fillet appears as a beef Stroganoff (S$28++), and there are grilled lamb chops for anyone not eating beef. Sides are classic bistro fare such as fries and vegetables, and the butchery's sausages and cold cuts feed into the rest of the menu.
It suits a relaxed weekend lunch or an early family dinner rather than a special-occasion night out. The bistro opens from 9.30am at weekends and closes on Mondays. You can buy the same cuts at the counter to cook at home afterwards. Parking is available around the Dempsey estate.
