Opus Bar & Grill is the signature restaurant of voco Orchard Singapore, the hotel at the quieter western end of Orchard Road near Tanglin. Cosy wooden furnishings and warm lighting set a relaxed tone rather than a formal one.
Beef is dry-aged in-house in cabinets lined with Himalayan salt tiles, then cooked over charcoal and sustainable Jarrah wood. The Stockyard 200-day grain-fed ribeye, marbling score three, is S$88, and the Miyazaki full-blood wagyu ribeye sits at the top of the list. Groups can order the Sanchoku wagyu tomahawk, flambéed at the table, and there is a wagyu flat iron, a surf and turf with half a Boston lobster, and grilled seafood such as whole pomfret.
A good-value hotel steakhouse for date nights and family dinners. A Steak, Side and Wine deal has run at S$68 per person, Saturdays bring a one-for-one local high tea semi-buffet, and Sundays a brunch buffet.
