Beefbar arrived in Hong Kong in 2015, the Asian flagship of Riccardo Giraudi's Monaco-born steak brand, and won its first Michelin star in 2017. It sits on the second floor of the Club Lusitano building on Ice House Street, with a sleek marble-and-brass dining room, a central bar and an entrance on Duddell Street.
The beef list is the reason to book: Black Angus from the United States and Australia, Japanese wagyu and Korean short horn (Hanwoo) striploin, all grilled and served simply with sauces and sides to share. The menu also leans on Beefbar's 'street food' starters, such as fresh ceviche and scallop and white miso crunchy tacos, which work well before a shared steak.
It suits business lunches and smart dinners, with lunch served Monday to Saturday and a wine list built for steak. Book ahead for Friday and Saturday nights. Beefbar has sister restaurants across Europe and the Middle East, but this is its only Hong Kong address.
