La Vache! is Black Sheep Restaurants' take on the Paris entrecôte bistro, and the SoHo original on Peel Street remains its flagship. Expect red-checked tablecloths, a busy bar and a no-choice format that keeps tables turning.
There is essentially one dinner: a green salad with walnuts, then a trimmed 10oz USDA Prime entrecôte with the house sauce and unlimited shoestring fries cooked in beef tallow, for HK$428 per person. Desserts such as lemon meringue tart, Black Forest gâteau or a coupe glacée are extra at dinner and included in the weekday set lunch. Order the steak rare or medium-rare and let the sauce do the work.
It is a dependable, good-value steak night for friends or families, and walk-ins are welcome when space allows. Other branches are at Exchange Square in Central (the largest), Pacific Place in Admiralty, The Peak Tower and Hart Avenue in Tsim Sha Tsui, plus one in Singapore.
