Mandarin Grill + Bar began life in 1963 as the Saddle & Sirloin and remains one of Central's grand hotel grill rooms, on the first floor of the Mandarin Oriental overlooking Statue Square and Chater Garden. It is listed in the Michelin Guide.
Chef Junior Nadje now leads the kitchen, keeping the European grill tradition of fire, smoke and classical sauces with a sharper French touch. Charcoal-grilled prime beef and Japanese wagyu sit beside oysters, caviar and seafood, and tableside service is part of the show, with beef Wellington a long-standing favourite. A Sunday roast menu, set lunch and bar menu give lighter options, and the cheese room and dessert trolley are worth saving room for.
This is a business-lunch and special-occasion room: dress is smart, with jackets recommended for men at dinner, and children are welcome before 6pm only. A private dining room is available, and the bar suits a pre-dinner martini.
