Papi Sapi comes from the group behind Uluwatu's Artisan cafés and brings the same attention to sourcing to a dinner-only grill on Jalan Labuansait. The set-up is casual and meat-forward, with cold beer, a relaxed surf-town crowd and live music on Thursdays.
The format is simple: walk up to the display chiller, pick your cut, then add starters, sides and sauces. Selection changes daily and each piece is priced and grilled to order over the flames. Expect Australian Black Angus picanha, Carrara Wagyu flank and Young Prime Angus rib eye, alongside tenderloin, fresh fish and grilled squid.
It is the best-value steak option on the Bukit, with steaks from around IDR 125,000, and suits casual dinners after the beach; doors open at 4pm, so it also works for an early meal after a surf. There is a second Papi Sapi in Kuta, Lombok. Reservations are taken through SevenRooms.
