Jake's has been grilling steaks in a quiet corner of Medan Damansara since 1981, which makes it one of Malaysia's oldest steakhouses. The room is rustic timber beams and booths styled like an old coach, with cowboy music and decades of photos on the walls.
The menu borrows from Tex-Mex, the American steakhouse and the Australian backyard barbecue. The Black Angus striploin (RM120, 230g) is the everyday order; Australian wagyu ribeye (RM288, 280g) and tenderloin (RM356, 200g) sit at the top. The Carpet Bag, a tenderloin stuffed with oysters, is the long-standing signature. Steaks come off the charbroiler with baked potato, corn and vegetables, and there is seafood and lamb for non-beef eaters.
Suits families, birthday groups and anyone who wants a steakhouse that has not changed with the trends. There is a second branch at Fisherman's Wharf, Langkawi, and the same owners run Casa Seventeen for private events. Sunday is dinner only.
