Steak Go Where

Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur's steakhouses range from tower-top grill rooms around KLCC to neighbourhood favourites in Damansara and Bangsar. Hotel grills sit beside homegrown dry-ageing specialists, and a restored colonial building in the city centre now houses a steakhouse.

Mandarin Grill at Mandarin Oriental faces KLCC Park and cooks dry-aged Angus and Sher wagyu on Josper grills. Chambers Grill at Hilton Kuala Lumpur dry-ages beef in a Himalayan salt cabinet, and Pampas Steakhouse sits inside Old Malaya, a 1919 building on Jalan Raja Chulan. Les Bouchons French Steakhouse serves Angus entrecôte off Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, and Maria's SteakCafe, a family-run café from Ipoh, is on Jalan Maarof.

Halal status is unconfirmed for every Kuala Lumpur listing, so check with the restaurant directly. Horizon Grill's Level 58 terrace faces the Petronas Towers and is worth booking ahead. Many listings sit in the mid-range band, about US$25–50 per person for a main steak.
