PRIME has been the steakhouse at Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur, next to KL Sentral station, for well over a decade, and it still appears on most local best-steak lists. The tagline is 'Prime Grill. Prime Wine. Prime Time.', and the room is a polished hotel dining room with a glass-fronted ageing cabinet.
The menu works by origin and cut. Australian Black Angus, 200 days grain-fed, comes as sirloin, ribeye and tenderloin, with 340g ribeyes from around RM220–230. There is Darling Downs wagyu, Devesa beef from Argentina from about RM200, and Japanese wagyu picanha at RM150 per 100g. Prime rib, T-bone and short rib also appear, and the dry-aged selection changes with what is in the cabinet.
Suits business dinners and travellers using KL Sentral. Weekday lunch is the cheaper way in, and weekends are dinner only. Press describes the meat as halal-certified; check certification directly if that matters, as the restaurant also promotes its wine pairings.
