The Beato opened in 2012 and is widely credited as one of the first Kuala Lumpur restaurants to specialise in dry-aged beef. It is a relaxed, neighbourhood steakhouse rather than a hotel dining room, and it has kept a steady following for consistent cooking at fair prices.
Steaks are sold by weight. The dry-aged Angus ribeye is RM79 per 100g, so a typical 300g piece is about RM240; there is also a porterhouse and a wagyu selection, with the wagyu tenderloin a frequent recommendation. Sides lean classic: roasted bone marrow (RM42), French onion soup (RM18), and a generous Caesar salad.
Good for a group of friends who want a proper dry-aged steak without the hotel formality. There are two outlets: Solaris Dutamas at Publika (closed Wednesdays) and 24-1 Jalan Telawi 3 in Bangsar. Dinner only at Publika, so book at weekends.
Hours and prices change, so please check with the restaurant before you go.
