Bochinche calls itself a 'steakeasy': an Argentine steakhouse and bar on Club Street from the Spa Esprit group, the team behind Tiong Bahru Bakery and Common Man Coffee Roasters. The menu blends Argentinian tapas with a serious steak list, and the dining room has a lively bar running alongside.
Steaks are cooked asado-style over a jarrah wood-fired grill, and the house dry-ages some beef for 35 days. Eatbook lists the Muge Carne Argentina ribeye at S$60++ for 300g and the tenderloin at S$75++. For a group there is the Argentinian butcher's board (S$230++, about 1.4kg), with ribeye, tenderloin and chorizo. Add empanadas and chimichurri, and choose from a wine list with plenty of Malbec.
It works well for groups, birthdays and long weekend lunches, as weekend lunch is a free-flow format. Dinner is not served on Sunday. Telok Ayer MRT is a short walk away, and you can book online.
