Les Bouchons opened on Ann Siang Road in 2002 and calls itself 'le roi du steak frites'. It is a Parisian-style bistro and steakhouse from the L'Angélus group, and the original shophouse still has the feel of a classic French neighbourhood restaurant.
The menu is built on steak frites, offering several cuts served simply with fries, salad and sauces. Eatbook recommends the grilled Australian Angus filet (S$58++ for 180g) with homemade fries, sautéed garlic spinach or roasted broccoli. There is a Black Angus rib eye with Vigneron butter, and the 1kg grilled prime rib platter (S$158++) is for sharing. The wine list is French-led, and wine is also sold online.
It suits date nights and relaxed client dinners. Ann Siang is closed on Sundays and serves dinner only on Saturdays. Other outlets are at Robertson Quay (since 2006) and Rochester Commons, with branches in Puteri Harbour and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.
