Artur is one of Bangkok's longest-running French restaurants, set on leafy Soi Ton Son off Phloen Chit Road. It is an old-school room where the owner may still slice the beef or carve at your table, and service is formal and practised.
Steak is the speciality. The house signatures are a côte de boeuf and a Châteaubriand, with smaller cuts offered in USDA Prime Angus, Australian Angus or Tajima wagyu and served with foie gras sauce or Café de Paris butter. Michelin has previously noted that the côte de boeuf is dry-aged and seared on hot lava stones. Beef tartare is prepared tableside and Time Out rates it among the best in the city, while beef Wellington, stroganoff and a rare canard au sang show off the French repertoire. Creamed spinach, potato gratin and mousseline mash are the sides.
It suits a long, wine-led dinner for two or a small celebration. Artur opens for dinner from 5pm. Chit Lom and Ploen Chit BTS stations are both within walking distance.
