New York Steakhouse has been part of the JW Marriott on Sukhumvit Soi 2 for more than two decades and was one of the first places in Bangkok to import American beef. The room plays the classic chophouse script: dark wood, black leather wingback chairs and black-and-white photographs of American cities. It is listed in the Michelin Guide Thailand.
Cuts come from the US, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. Koktail singles out the Australian grass-fed Little Joe ribeye, and the menu runs up to Matsusaka striploin with a marble score of 10. The signature is a spice-rubbed wagyu tomahawk carved at the table and meant for a large group, while the Châteaubriand for two has to be ordered a day ahead. Sides include twice-cooked hasselback potatoes, and the house cheesecake is the dessert regulars come back for.
This is a dinner-only room suited to business entertaining and long celebratory meals, with a deep wine list and staff who know their cuts. Pork, lamb and seafood also appear on the menu. Book ahead at weekends; the nearest BTS station is Phloen Chit.
