Quilombo is an Argentine steakhouse on Thonglor Soi 5, set in a stone-walled space that Time Out likens to a castle. Vaulted brick ceilings and candlelit white tablecloths give it a cellar-like feel, and service is old-fashioned and formal in the Argentine style.
The house steak is the Quilombo Steak, a 1.2kg T-bone meant for sharing and served with two chimichurris, one traditional and one spicy. The cooking follows Argentine ranching traditions, with beef as the centre of the menu rather than a long list of extras. The wine list is heavy on Argentine bottles, so Malbec is the obvious pairing for the T-bone.
It suits groups of friends or a long dinner for two with a bottle to share. Quilombo opens for dinner only, Tuesday to Saturday, and closes on Sundays and Mondays. Booking ahead is sensible at weekends; the nearest BTS station is Thong Lo.
