Kemang and the neighbourhoods around it are where much of Jakarta's international community lives, and the steak scene here is more relaxed than in SCBD: standalone houses, neighbourhood grills and an open-air mall rather than office-tower dining rooms. It is the part of the city for a family weekend lunch or an easy weeknight steak.
Meat Me Steakhouse and Butchery at Kemang Village is the best-value pick, with Australian wagyu ribeye chosen at the butchery counter and tables on the open-air walkway. On Jalan Bumi in Kebayoran Baru, Lawry's The Prime Rib carves slow-roasted prime rib from silver carts, and Sir Loin, a few doors along, uses Cape Grim beef from Tasmania, with butter-aged tomahawks. Couz Steak House on Jalan Ampera serves T-bones, prime rib and chimichurri ribeye to families and small groups.
Meat Me is casual and Sir Loin mid-range, while Lawry's is upscale and the place to book for a celebration. Weekends get busy with families, so reserve ahead at Lawry's. Halal status is unconfirmed for these listings, so ask the restaurant if it matters to you.
