Steak & Bar venues treat the bar as part of the meal, with cocktails, wine lists and often music or views. They suit date nights, groups and late dinners, from rooftop grills to clubby chophouses with a martini list.

Bistecca in Jakarta pairs charcoal-grilled dry-aged steaks with a well-known martini bar, and ESKQ Steakhouse & Wine Bar in Canggu adds live jazz to a 50-label list. Penthouse Bar + Grill fills three storeys of the Park Hyatt Bangkok, and Sunset Grill on the Sheraton Tung Chung's 19th floor looks over Lantau. Cinder Steakhouse in Seletar doubles as a wine bar with some 200 wines.

Book a dining table ahead even if you plan to start at the bar. Prices run from The Feather Blade at under US$25 for a main steak to fine-dining rooms such as CUT by Wolfgang Puck, above US$100. Most of these venues are not halal or unconfirmed, so check if needed.
